About Robert Muggah

Robert Muggah specialises in cities, security, digital transformation, and climate action. He is a founder of the SecDev Group – a risk forecasting and data science company committed to fostering digital and climate resilience. He is also the co-founder of the Igarapé Institute – an award-winning think and do tank focused on citizen, digital, and climate security. Robert also advises national and municipal governments, major technology and consulting companies, international organisations and city networks, including the UN, OECD and World Bank. He has authored eight books—most recently Terra Incognita (Atlas der Zukunft)—and hundreds of peer-reviewed journal articles and opinion pieces. He is a regular contributor to the Atlantic, BBC, CNN, Financial Times, Foreign Affairs, Guardian, Economist, New York Times, Newsweek, USA Today, and Wired and gave multiple TED talks. Robert received a doctorate from the University of Oxford.
