About Ingolf Dietrich

Dr Ingolf Dietrich heads Directorate 41 at the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), which is responsible for the 2030 Agenda, social and environmental transformation and feminist development policy. Since 2014, Dr Dietrich has also been the Commissioner for the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at the BMZ. He is responsible for the BMZ's position in national and international processes on the 2030 Agenda. Other tasks include advancing Germany's development policy and its alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals, as well as supporting partner countries in their efforts to align their national policies with the Agenda. Dr Dietrich's responsibilities also include the areas of respect for human rights, gender equality, and inclusion of persons with disabilities so that a life of dignity for all – and thus sustainable development – can become a reality. Dr Dietrich studied agricultural sciences at the Technical University Munich and the Technical University Berlin. He holds a doctorate in agricultural economics from the Technical University of Munich. He is an alumnus of the GDI postgraduate programme.
