About Eddy Gitonga

Eddy Gitonga is a passionate environmentalist in innovations who catalyses solutions to problems facing communities. Eddy was awarded as a Young African Thinker in 2018, courtesy of UN-Habitat & African Union, and as one of the Top 15 Innovators in Kenya 2020, courtesy of Konza Technopolis & Climate Innovation Academy 2021. His most recent project was working with a Danish news team to produce an environmental documentary to help ban plastic bags in Denmark, using Kenya as a model. Eddy has worked closely with organisations like UNEP, UN ECOSOC, and international governments. Currently, he is working to realise a pilot household environmental project to be scaled up periodically, capturing real-time monitoring and evaluation. Eddy hopes to integrate his innovations throughout East and Central Africa to help communities thrive and grow economically, as well as in health and peace.
