Ashima Sood is a researcher on urban development and governance issues. Her research lies at the intersection of institutional economics and urban and development studies. It combines qualitative and quantitative methodologies to examine the policy frameworks encouraging greenfield urban development and privatised forms of urban governance in India. Her research and writing have appeared in publications such as Urban Studies, Cities, Journal of Institutional Economics, the Economic and Political Weekly, among others. She earned her PhD at the Department of Economics, Cornell University.
