About Aníbal Gaviria Correa

Aníbal Gaviria Correa is a business administrator, husband, and father of four children. Over the past two decades, Aníbal Gaviria has played a pivotal role in the development and transformation of Medellín, Antioquia, and Colombia. Anibal was elected Governor of Antioquia for two terms (2004–2007 and 2020–2023). His leadership was characterised by his commitment to the well-being, protection, and dignity of life. In 2012, he assumed the position of Mayor of Medellín. During his tenure, he spearheaded transformative urban development initiatives, with a keen focus on social equity and sustainability. Until early May 2024, he held the esteemed position of President of the Cities Alliance Assembly. For nearly five years, he has been working with the organisation in promoting sustainable urban development across cities worldwide.
