About María Mercedes Di Virgilio

María Mercedes Di Virgilio is an Argentinian sociologist who developed her research career at Instituto Gino Germani, Universidad de Buenos Aires. From 2018 to 2019 she worked as Under-Secretary of Science and Technology at the Universidad de Buenos Aires. As a Senior Research Fellow, she works on the residential mobility processes of lower and middle classes families. She studied housing strategies and residential careers. She is particularly interested in public policies and social policies in the city, and their relations with space mobility. The study of residential motilities allowed her to move forward in other directions of research, such as social mobility processes and relations between social class and territory.
