About Marwan Abubaker

Marwan Abubaker is an environmentalist with more than 15 years of experience in agriculture, fish farming, and community services. He co-founded The Golden Husk, an NGO focused on animal welfare and environmental issues. At Radio Active, he led community projects, including Stray Pals (street dog welfare) and decentralised waste management initiatives in Bangalore. Marwan has worked on sustainable waste management projects across India. An active member of the Solid Waste Management Roundtable (SWMRT), he piloted Bangalore’s first Dry Waste Collection Centre in 2011. He later mobilised waste pickers and conducted more than 300 awareness programmes in the field of waste management. In 2014, he joined Hasiru Dala as director of operations and co-founded Hasiru Dala Innovations.
