About Peter Kurz

Dr. Peter Kurz has been the Mayor of Mannheim, Germany since 2007. In the run up to Habitat III, Mannheim hosted an Urban Thinkers Campus on “Urban Citizenship in a Nomadic World”. Dr. Kurz is also a member of the Advisory Board of the Global Parliament of Mayors and represents Europe on its Steering Committee. He has a background in law, having served as a judge at the administrative court in Karlsruhe for several years.

Today, the High Level Political Forum for the implementation of the SDGs and Agenda 2030 ends in New York City. On this occasion, Mayor Peter Kurz explains how the city of Mannheim, Germany is working towards implementing Agenda 2030 locally. Political leaders, the city administration and the citizens are collaborating to create an inclusive, citizen-oriented city.
